    Abstract
Smartphones are intelligent devices whose usage has been rapidly expanding worldwide. Excessive smartphone use can lead to smartphone addiction and adversely affect sleep quality. This study aims to determine the relationship between smartphone addiction and sleep quality among school-age children at Suka Ramai State Elementary School, West Binjai District. The study design employs a quantitative research approach with a descriptive correlational method, involving a sample of 67 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman's rho test. The research instruments used were the Smartphone Addiction Scale and the Sleep Self Report. The results indicate that 40 respondents (59.7%) have very high smartphone addiction, while 27 respondents (40.3%) have high smartphone addiction. In terms of sleep quality, 34 respondents (50.7%) have very poor sleep quality, 32 respondents (47.8%) have poor sleep quality, and I respondent (1.5%) has moderate sleep quality. The Spearman's rho statistical test results, with a p-value of 0.00 (p < 0.05) and r = -0.56, indicate a significant relationship between smartphone addiction and sleep quality among school-age children at Suka Ramai State Elementary School, West Binjai District. The conclusion of this study is that higher smartphone addiction is associated with poorer sleep quality among school-age children. It is hoped that this study can provide input and eventually lead to interventions in the form of education regarding smartphone addiction and sleep quality issues among school-age children.
