Abstract

A significant increase in the volume of archives has led to a suboptimal storage system, resulting in archive damage and decreased employee work efficiency. This condition also has a negative impact on office layout. This research aims to understand the concept and application of "The Role of Office Layout in Arranging Archives at the Medan Regional Public Company (PUD) Market Licens ing/Business Division". This research uses a quantitative method involving 21 employees in filling out questionnaires. The results of this study found that the physical condition of the office, including limited storage space, damaged inventory, and inadequate infrastructure, directly contributes to problems in archive management. In addition, the company has not maximized the use of technology to manage archives digitally. Based on the research results, it is concluded that the Medan Regional Public Compan y (PUD) Market needs to take several improvement steps. First, an evaluation and improvement of the office layout need to b e carried out to accommodate the needs of archive storage. Second, it is necessary to replace the inventory that is no longer usable. Third, the company needs to consider switching to a digital archive storage system to improve efficiency and data security
