    Abstract
This research aims to look at the efforts of satua hada leadership in maintaining the traditional Nias culture of fataele dance with effective preservation strategies in the era of modernization. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative using a case study approach. This research theory uses the social theory of leadership by Ralph Melvin Stogdill. The results of this research explain that satua hada leadership in Nias has the characteristics of rights and authority in maintaining and preserving values, norms and social order in the lives of village communities. The roles and responsibilities of a satua hada are generally based on Nias customary law called fondrakö law. The leadership of satua hada is able to implement various strategies to maintain the continuity of fataele dance in the era of modernization. Satua hada leadership strategies include training in fataele dance through organizing training programs for the younger generation in villages, routine dance performance activities at village to district level, building cooperation with school agencies to implement the Nias cultural extracurricular curriculum, building and equipping cultural equipment. , directly implementing Nias culture including the fataele dance at traditional events (hada) for the community, and teaching directly to the community (ono niha) through cultural folklore narratives. To achieve a leadership strategy, satua hada basically must be able to adapt to the social situation of society to achieve a goal of success in preserving traditional Nias culture.
