    Abstract
The purpose of this study is to understand the transformation that occurred and investigate in depth the development of the role of Javanese ethnic women in the family in Bangun Rejo village. Historically, Javanese society is known for its strong patriarchal culture, where men are considered as the main leaders and decision-makers in the family. Traditional Javanese women are often placed in domestic roles as housewives who are responsible for housework, taking care of their husbands, and raising children. The influence of the times and the influence of modernization, the role of Javanese ethnic women in the family has undergone a significant shift. The research method uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach and participant observation to obtain data sources derived from in-depth interviews. In presenting the results of qualitative research, researchers often use rich and detailed descriptions to describe the phenomenon under study, accompanied by quotes from participants and examples that support the findings. The presentation of qualitative research results can also be supplemented with figures and tables to help readers understand the findings more clearly. The informants involved in this study were four people, including one person who worked as an honorary teacher, one person as a laundy worker, one person as a laundry owner, and one other person as a cable worker. The results of this study show that the traditional role of Javanese women in the family in Bangun Rejo Village is still quite strong and maintained. The main roles of a Javanese wife are taking care of the household, preparing food for the family, and taking care of the children. In addition, Javanese women are also expected to maintain family unity and harmony, as well as maintaining good relations with the husband's extended family. This traditional role does not only apply to women who do not work, but also to those who work outside the home. The main task of Javanese women is still taking care of the household and taking care of the children after returning home from work. The conclusion of this study shows that Javanese families in Bangun Rejo Village tend to negotiate roles to achieve a more balanced division of tasks and responsibilities. This negotiation is conducted through open discussions between husband and wife, and involves other family members if necessary. Through negotiation, families try to find solutions that accommodate the needs and desires of each family member.
