Music plays a role in human life, including economic activities. In Toba district there is a group of musicians who refer to their identity as "anak band". The activities of band members selling music to various places and earning income from these activities are closely related to economic activities. The aim of this research is to examine and describe the creative process of producing and distributing band music in Toba Regency using an economic anthropology approach. This research was conducted using qualitative ethnographic methods. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with band members, direct observation, and analysis of documents related to music sales activities. Analysis was carried out to identify how socio-cultural aspects influence the structure of the music market. The research results show that in economic activities there are various interactions between band members and music performance organizers, music distributors and music consumers. Then there is an exchange system that is different from the classical economic exchange system. Apart from that, in this research there are career dynamics of band members such as players' income, unsuitable music market, social stigma, internal band conflicts, and lack of knowledge of band members who are capable of advancing their career path. Based on the results of the analysis, researchers recommend suggestions, namely business education for anak band, regulation of market prices, and making the community aware of the importance of art appreciation with a strategic and sustainable approach. By implementing these suggestions, economic growth can increase through improving the creative industry. This research provides an understanding of the creativity of the production and distribution of band music as a reference and as a consideration for tourism and culture-based economic development.en_US
