Deskripsi Proses Pembuatan dan Teknik Permainan Gambus Selodang Melayu oleh Perajin dan Pemusik pada Sanggar Bedelau, di Kelurahan Sungai Apit, Kecamatan Sungai Apit, Kabupaten Siak, Provinsi Riau

Abstract

This research studies about the techniques of making and playing traditional musical instrument Gambus Selodang, which is an authentic curtural heritage of Melayu Siak community. The main materials for making this musical instrument are jackfruit and cempedak wood, and it has seven strings. This research was conducted at the Sungai Apit Subdistrict, Siak Regency, Riau Province. The purpose of this research is to describe the technical process of making and playing musical instrument Gambus Selodang at Sanggar Bedelau. The criteria selection raw materials and the process of making Gambus Selodang are the focus in this research. This research uses a qualitative method approach with data collection techniques which was conducted by observation, interviews, literature study and direct documentation in Sungai Apit Village, Sungai Apit Subdistrict, Siak Regency, Riau Province. The author uses behavioral and verbal theories by Merriam, then the approach related to the musical instrument classification system by Curt Sachs, nect the structural and functional approach by Shusumu Khasima, and in analyzing and describing what is heard using the approach by Bruno Nettl. The process of making Gambus Selodang consists of the beginning manufacturing process, the subsequent manufacturing process, and the refinement process. The technique to play the Gambus Selodang is memeting (picking) and the sitting position in the traditional gambus is, sitting with a cross leg because this position is considered more polite.
