    Abstract
    A cemetery is the final resting place of someone who has died. One of them is the tomb of King Sidabutar which is the oldest tomb in Tomok. King Sidabutar was the first person in Tomok and has a lot of history of the lives of the Sidabutar kings who were known for their supernatural powers. Before King Sidabutar died, they had prepared his tomb. The tomb of King Sidabutaris made of natural stone carved in the shape of a hand-carved head (gorga) which is the spiritual symbol of the Toba Batak people with three colors, namely: red means courage, white means purity, black means leadership. This research aims to describe the shape of the symbols found in King Sidabutar's tomb, describe the function and meaning of the symbols found in King Sidabutar's tomb. The theory used to analyze the data from this research is semiotic theory, namely the symbols proposed by Peirce and the meanings proposed by Ogden and Richard. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. The results of the research show that the symbols found in King Sidabutar's tomb have 13 symbol forms, symbol functions and symbol meanings which include equipment symbols, spell symbols. King Sidabutar's tomb has 10 types of equipment symbols including: Ulos, entrance to King Sidabutar's tomb, lizard "Boras Pati", breast "Odap-odap", tomb of King Sidabutar (Ompu Soribuntu Sidabutar), tomb of King Sojoloan Sidabutar (Ompu Na Ibatu) , Malela Boru Sinaga earrings, "Simba" long hair, Dalihan Na Tolu, Toba Batak flag. 1 type of mantra symbol, namely: flowers and water. 3 types of equipment symbols include: commander Tengku Muhammad Said, the tomb of Ompu SolompoanSidabutar,theexit fromthetomb ofKingSidabutar.Eachsymbol has a specific function and meaning for King Sidabutar's tomb. Thus, it can be concluded that the tomb of King Sidabutar still has traditions that are still carried out and implemented today. So that the historical heritage of King Sidabutar is not lost and still has the symbols, functions and meanings found in King Sidabutar's tomb.
