    Abstract
This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of Japanese youth language (wakamono no kotoba) that undergoes abbreviation (shouryaku) in the anime "One Punch Man." As a part of popular culture, anime often reflects the dynamic and innovative everyday language used by Japanese youth. The focus of this research is to identify various forms of shouryaku that appear in the characters' dialogues in the anime and to understand their functions and contexts of use. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data taken from the transcripts of dialogues in several episodes of "One Punch Man." The analysis results show that various types of abbreviations are used, including elision (omission of syllables), contractions, and acronyms. These abbreviations are used not only for communication efficiency but also to express familiarity, group identity, and create an informal atmosphere in conversations. The findings indicate that shouryaku is used not only as a practical communication tool but also as a means of social and cultural expression. This study contributes to the field of Japanese linguistics by providing insights into the dynamics of youth language in the context of popular media. Additionally, this research highlights the importance of considering cultural contexts in linguistic analysis, particularly in studying how language evolves and changes in popular media. Therefore, this study is expected to serve as a reference for further research on wakamono no kotoba and its use in various forms of media.
