Penampilan Karakter Morfologi dan Produksi Kultivar Jagung Hitam

Abstract

Black corn has jet black kernels with a slightly purplish hue. The aim of this research was to determine the appearance of morphological characters and production of black corn cultivar. This research was conducted in Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency, North Sumatra in July 2023-January 2024 using descriptive methods with visual observations and analyze phenotype variance of each character and the standard deviation The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, male flowering age, female flowering age, cob length, cob diameter, number of seed rows, number of seeds, cob weight, harvest age, stem color, stem hair color, male flower color, female flower color, leaf color, seed color, seed row shape and leaf shape. The results of the research show that the phenotype variance has various or broad criteria in the characteristics of plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, male flowering age, female flowering age, cob length, cob diameter, number of seed rows, number of seeds, cob weight. In the qualitative character observation parameters, there were no variations between plants
