    Abstract
Poverty remains an economic and social issue in various regions, including Samosir Regency, North Sumatra. The percentage of poor people in Samosir in 2023 was recorded at 11.66% or 14,860 individuals, higher than the percentage of poor people in North Sumatra and Indonesia. On the other, the agricultural sector plays an important role in the economy of Samosir Regency, where the contribution of the agricultural sector business field is 51.08%, and the majority of the population works in the agricultural sector. This research aims to analyze the contribution of the agricultural sector to changes in poverty levels in Samosir Regency. The analytical method used in the study is the Descriptive Analysis Method to explain the development of variables affecting poverty levels in Samosir Regency and Multiple Regression Analysis to determine the contribution of independent variables in the agricultural sector to poverty levels in Samosir Regency. The data used is secondary data in the form of time series data from 2014-2023. The results show that the independent variables of agricultural sector GDP, labor in the agricultural sector, agricultural land area, and farmer exchange rate can explain 74.7% of the variation in poverty levels. Simultaneously, the independent variables do not significantly affect poverty levels (α = 0.05). Partially, the variables of labor in the agricultural sector, agricultural land area, and farmer exchange rate have a negative but insignificant effect on poverty levels. The agricultural sector GDP variable has a positive but insignificant effect on poverty levels in Samosir Regency.
