Perwilayahan Komoditas Salak di Kabupaten Karo

Abstract

The snake fruit that can be produced by Karo Regency has great potential in the Karo Regency area because it can be seen from the amount of snake fruit production produced which is quite large and can provide added value so that it has a positive impact on the welfare of the Karo people. Each sub-district in Karo Regency has different resource conditions and regional conditions. Because of these differences, each sub-district has its own potential which can be utilized in the economic development of its community. The potential of each sub-district requires a more indepth study to find out which sub-district has greater potential in producing salak commodities that can be developed in Karo Regency. The objectives of this research are: 1) To analyze the base and non-base areas for salak commodities in Karo Regency; 2) To analyze the distribution characteristics of snake fruit in Karo Regency. The method used in this research is Location Quotion analysis and Locality analysis. The results of the LQ analysis show that the base areas for salak based on production indicators in Karo Regency are Juhar District, Kutabuluh District, Payung District, Tiganderket District and Simpang Empat District. The non-commoditybased sub-district for salak is Munte Sub-district. The results of the local analysis show that snake fruit farming is not localized and concentrated in a certain subdistrict area but is spread across several sub-districts.
