    Abstract
The practice of being childfree is increasingly observed among millennial families as a response to changing values and socioeconomic challenges in the modern era. This phenomenon highlights the deliberate decision of millennial couples not to have children, which shifts the traditional family paradigm. This research illustrates the trend by focusing on the factors influencing the childfree decision, such as changing perspectives on career, education, and financial independence. The influence of social media and openness to diverse lifestyles have played significant roles in expanding the acceptance of this choice. This study employs a qualitative approach, conducting in-depth interviews with millennial couples who have chosen to be childfree. The informants in this study consist of 8 individuals, specifically millennial couples residing in East Kisaran City who have chosen a childfree lifestyle. The research findings indicate that the desire to maintain life balance, expectations of a higher quality of life, and concerns about environmental impact influence this decision. Social stigma and pressure from a community that still adheres to traditional family values present challenges for those who choose to be childfree. This research explores the social, economic, and demographic implications of the childfree trend in the long term. While there are individual benefits such as greater time flexibility and broader personal development, this phenomenon also raises questions about its impact on global population dynamics and social sustainability.
