dc.description.abstractA river is a flowing aquatic ecosystem that in its flow from upstream to downstream receives a lot of runoff from the mainland. Increased domestic, agricultural, and industrial activities will affect and adversely affect the condition of river water quality which causes changes in physical, chemical, and biological factors in the river waters. The Sikam River in Simalungun Regency is used by the community around the river as a wastewater disposal site from household activities such as toilets (bathing, washing, toilets), plantations and so on. The use of the river as a wastewater disposal site carried out by the community can cause a decrease in river water quality. This research was conducted in March 2024. The research method used is purposive sampling. The results of the overall research obtained are where the water quality status of the Sikam River spatially, North Sumatra Province based on NSF-WQI in medium (moderate)-poor status and based on the IP method in the light-moderate polluted category with a comparison of river water quality standards.en_US
