dc.description.abstract | A river is a flowing aquatic ecosystem that in its flow from upstream to
downstream receives a lot of runoff from the mainland. Increased domestic,
agricultural, and industrial activities will affect and adversely affect the condition
of river water quality which causes changes in physical, chemical, and biological
factors in the river waters. The Sikam River in Simalungun Regency is used by the
community around the river as a wastewater disposal site from household activities
such as toilets (bathing, washing, toilets), plantations and so on. The use of the river
as a wastewater disposal site carried out by the community can cause a decrease
in river water quality. This research was conducted in March 2024. The research
method used is purposive sampling. The results of the overall research obtained
are where the water quality status of the Sikam River spatially, North Sumatra
Province based on NSF-WQI in medium (moderate)-poor status and based on the
IP method in the light-moderate polluted category with a comparison of river water
quality standards. | en_US |
