    Abstract
This research is entitled "Analysis of Self-Disclosure in Novels (Analysis of Ferdinand De Saussure's Semiotics on the Character Judy Abbott in the Novel Daddy Long-Legs by Jean Webster)". The research method is qualitative in the form of Ferdinand De Saussure's semiotic analysis approach. The aim of the research is to determine the analysis of self-disclosure that occurs in the character Judy Abbott to her funder/father (Daddy Long-Legs) using Ferdinand De Saussure's semiotics in the novel Daddy Long-Legs. The results of the research show that there are signifier and signified of self-disclosure by Judy Abbott to her "funder/father". Judy showed signs of self-disclosure by openly discussing all her experiences, her friends, and all the actions and life she lived while on campus. Judy's self-disclosure was carried out through letters that Judy always sent to her "father". The conclusion of this research is Judy shows that comfort is the basis for self-disclosure. The purpose of Judy's self-disclosure is self-expression, social control and friendship needs. Judy's self-disclosure to her "father" allows her to express all her feelings in her letter. Apart from that, the "father" is also a place for Judy to show her true self which does not fit into her social environment. Through self-disclosure to her "father", Judy comes to understand her personality better. What she wants, feels, all her hopes and disappointments, she can express openly to her "father". The relationship between Judy and her “father” is based on friendship relationship. The “father” has fulfilled the requirements as someone Judy can be friends with. So the interpersonal relationship between the two can be categorized as a friendship relationship. By revealing herself, Judy further strengthens her friendship with her “father”. Apart from that, the relationship between Judy and her “father” also has a positive value seen from the rewards that both parties experience in maintaining interpersonal relationship.
