    Abstract
Smoking is one thing that can damage the health of the body but it is found to be a source of peace for smokers. In general, smoking is only given fairness to men, but as time goes by, more and more women are also smoking and do not care too much about the negative label on women. The research method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative research method. There are two data sources used, namely primary data sources (generated directly from informants and the field) and secondary (generated through literature studies). Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The results of this study are in accordance with the answers to three research questions, namely a) the perception of female student smokers towards cigarettes, namely cigarettes as a sedative or healing activity, female students also choose to continue smoking even though they already know for sure the dangers of smoking; b) the factors causing female students to smoke are because of curiosity or curiosity, stress, influence from friends or relationships; c) the self-image of female student smokers obtained, some feel that they are accepted by their friendship environment and some are rejected by their friendship environment. The analysis of this article is also in accordance with the results found, namely a) although the perceptions of female students are different, the dominant results and can be concluded that smoking can be used as a healing activity to calm the mind temporarily, and female students understand and comprehend the impacts of cigarettes on health, especially women, but still choose to persist in smoking because they have enjoyed the cigarette, b) based on the results of the study, there are two factors that cause smoking, namely internal factors (stress and curiosity) and external factors (influence from friends or social circles); c) the self-image of female students produced is two, namely a positive self-image (accepted by the environment to smoke) and a negative self-image (rejected by the environment to smoke). However, the analysis states that the most dominant self-image is a positive self-image so that this smoking trend continues. This article can be further developed if it is more focused and specific on the perception of the environment of the female student smoker. So this article is open to further development.
