    Abstract
This thesis is titled "The Role of Volunteers in Empowering Youth through Social Media at the Filantroop Organization." The purpose of this research is to understand the role of volunteers in promoting youth empowerment through social media at the Filantroop organization, to identify the reasons why young people choose to become volunteers, and to determine the challenges faced by volunteers at Filantroop. The method used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive research type. The data collection methods used include participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, aiming to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the actual conditions in the field regarding the role of volunteers in promoting youth empowerment through social media at the Filantroop organization. The findings of this research indicate that the roles performed by volunteers at Filantroop can be seen through three types of roles in youth empowerment: active roles, participatory roles, and passive roles. The active role performed by volunteers at Filantroop involves presenting beneficial content to followers on Filantroop's social media. The participatory role involves contributing creative ideas and participating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of events. The passive role includes accepting cooperation or collaboration with other organizations, where volunteers only participate as attendees during collaborative activities. This research also reveals various perspectives on youth empowerment applied by volunteers at Filantroop, namely pluralist, elitist, structuralist, and post-structuralist perspectives.
