    Abstract
    Background: Information technology (IT) is crucial in increasing operational efficiency in various sectors, including government administration. This research investigates the implementation of Information Technology in increasing the efficiency of secretaries at the North Sumatra Province Transportation Service. Objective: This research aims to analyze how information technology can be implemented to increase the work efficiency of the secretary of the North Sumatra Province Transportation Service. Method: This research uses a qualitative approach using interview and observation techniques. Interviews were conducted with the Department secretary and 2 other staff at the secretariat of the North Sumatra Province Transportation Service. Results: The research results show that the implementation of Information Technology can improve secretary performance by minimizing manual processes, increasing access to information, and strengthening organizational transparency. Improved schedule management, document management, communication, and decision-making effectiveness. Implementation of an E-office system for managing correspondence electronically, training for secretarial staff in using digital systems, holding regular training for employees regarding the use of the latest information technology. Conclusion: Budget limitations, inadequate infrastructure and human resource readiness were identified. Suggestion: Strengthen the use of Information Technology by involving ongoing training, additional IT staff, and increasing awareness of the benefits of Information Technology within the Transportation Service. It is hoped that this study can contribute to the Information Technology development strategy in the government sector to improve the efficiency and quality of public services.
