Analisis Korelasi PDRB Sektor Pertanian terhadap Tingkat Kemiskinan di Provinsi Sumatera Utara

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the development of the agricultural sector in North Sumatra Province, knowing the correlation of the GRDP of the agricultural sector to the poverty rate in North Sumatra Province. The data used is data on gross regional domestic product (GRDP) according to business fields and the number of poor people during 2013–2022. The method of determining the area used in this study is the purposive or the deliberate method. The analytical methods used are quantitative descriptive and simple product moment correlation methods. The research results show that the GRDP development in the agricultural sector of North Sumatra Province continues to increase each year and becomes the business subfield that has the largest GRDP contribution compared to other sectors. The development of poverty in North Sumatra Province has decreased every year although it experienced an increasing in 2021 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The results of a simple correlation analysis show that the agricultural sector has a significant or strong negative relationship with poverty. The correlation coefficient value obtained is about -0.724. The results of the correlation analysis of the GRDP of the agricultural sector and the processing industry on poverty levels in North Sumatra Province showed that the correlation value of the GRDP in the agricultural sector was greater than that of the processing industry sector.
