    Abstract
In the development of tourist villages themselves, the participation of local communities is one of the supporters of the success of the development of tourist villages. This is due to the role of local communities who have a better understanding of the social environment, customs, culture, and habits of the village. Punden Rejo Village, Tanjung Morawa District is one of the villages that was initiated as a Tourist Village in Deli Serdang Regency in 2022 with the geographical conditions of a large and beautiful rice field area. This study aims to examine the extent of community participation in the development of Punden Rejo Tourist Village, Tanjung Morawa District. This study uses tourism indicators based on community participation by Suansri (2003), namely Nature and Culture, Community Organization, Management, and Learning. The research method used in this study is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection is used with interview, observation, documentation, and literature study techniques. The data collection technique uses purposive sampling techniques to obtain more in-depth information in the study. The informants who were strengthened as one of the research instruments in it include the Punden Rejo Village Government, Punden Rejo Tourism Management, Punden Rejo Village Tourism Awareness Group (POKDARWIS), and the Local Community of Punden Rejo Village. The results of the study show that: 1. Nature and Culture, where environmental maintenance in this tourist village is still running well but in cultural preservation it is not visible in it. 2. Community Organization, the participation of the local community of Punden Rejo Village is low in the development of Punden Rejo Tourism Village because the level of public awareness of tourism potential in the development of tourist villages is relatively low. 3. Management, where the role of the government in the development of Punden Rejo Tourism Village based on community participation has been implemented. 4. Learning, where socialization has been carried out but not on a maximum scale so that it requires re-socialization to form the understanding and knowledge of the local community of Punden Rejo Village in the development of Punden Rejo Tourism Village.
