The Influence of Parasocial relationship on Subjective Well-being of K-Pop Fans in Indonesia
Abstract
This research aims to analyze the influence of parasocial relationships on the subjective well-being of K-pop fans in Indonesia. The research employed a quantitative method with a survey approach. The respondents consisted of
100 individuals selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instruments utilized were the CAS-Celebrity Attitude Scale, which comprises 3 aspects with a total of 24 items, the Satisfaction With Life Scale, consisting of 5 items, and the Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), consisting of 12 items. The obtained data was analyzed using simple linear regression, processed using SPSS version 29.0 for Windows. The results of the research indicate a significant positive influence of each stage of parasocial relationships on subjective well-being (p stage 1 = 0.013, p stage 2 = 0.025, p stage 3 = 0.008). The regression coefficient value of 1.099 in stage 1 demonstrates that an increase in parasocial relationships contributes to an increase in the subjective well-being of K-pop fans. This research provides new insights into the role of parasocial relationships in enhancing the psychological well-being of individuals, specifically within the context of K-pop popular culture in the digital age.
