    Abstract
Nyctophobia, or fear of darkness, is a type of specific phobia where the sufferer feels excessive fear or anxiety when in dark or dimly lit environments. This phobia can be treated using various therapy methods, one of which is In Vivo Exposure Therapy, which involves exposing the sufferer to the source that triggers their fear or anxiety. However, this method has certain limitations, such as difficulty in creating fear-triggering situations in real life and sometimes producing situations that are too anxiety-inducing. This issue can be addressed through the application of Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET), a type of exposure therapy designed for patients with phobias, involving a series of systematic exposures to feared situations or conditions in a safe virtual environment that resembles real-world aspects. This study aims to develop a VRET application using Unity 3D and implement a recursive backtracking algorithm as a random maze generator for the therapy scenario. Based on user experience questionnaire results using the Likert Scale, it was found that the maze generated by the Recursive Backtracking algorithm was considered dynamic and engaging.
